Sixers and Seconders Expediton Camp
Over the October half term, the Sixers and Seconders of the cub pack ventured down to Buddens Scout Campsite in Dorset, to learn about the skills needed for expeditions similar to the Duke of Edinburgh expeditions being undertaken by the explorers at the same time.
The skills learnt included:
Learning to take down and put up a Vango Force 10 tent properly as a group, then putting them up in smaller groups.
Learning how to take a bearing
using a compass and using compass directions on a map,
Being taught how to make a basic navigation route card,
Using Trangias and cooking dinner and ration packs to taste
as well as finishing with a practice 2 day DofE style hike! To which all of the cubs finished!
